We have known each other for around twelve years in the area of internationalization, particularly in creating opportunities to gain intercultural experiences and insights through a stay abroad. It always proved to be a particular challenge to be able to convince one’s own institution that differently organized work processes and personnel policies among the international partners were not necessarily a qualitative disadvantage.
